So, Mega Force has been confirmed. I’m sure you all know this if you care at all. I’m not going to complain about how it’s Goseiger. It makes sense. Gokaiger was wishful thinking. They’ve never skipped a season of Super Sentai, and it makes sense that they wouldn’t do it now. With each Power Rangers season now lasting 2 years, 2015 will be a perfect year to do a special season, in addition to being the 20th Anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. I get Goseiger. What I don’t get is Mega Force.

1. Mega Force may be the most generic name you could come up with. Besides “Mighty Morphin,” I suppose. Every season past the first has been representative of that season, generally (you could make a case against Lost Galaxy, but that’s a different blog post.) Mega Force, however, could belong to any season. Everything is “Mega.” They all have “Mega” powers. They all have “Mega”zords. Heck, Samurai even has “Mega” modes! As a name, Mega Force doesn’t mean anything. It’s just… Mega. I don’t know how they’re adapting the season (I don’t think they can do “angels” per se) so I can’t really give a better name, but “Celestial Force” wouldn’t be so bad.
2. The abbreviation has been used before. Every season before has been unique in its abbreviation. If I’m talking about Season 1-3, I’ve got MMPR. If I’m talking about Season 15, I can say PROO. If I want to talk about Season 14, I can say PRMF. If I want to talk about Season 20, I can say PRMF. Wait. No. I can’t. Obviously, this is a somewhat minor gripe, but we always had the option of abbreviating before. MMPR, PRZ, PRT, PRiS, PRLG, PRLR, PRTF, PRWF, PRNS, PRDT, PRSPD, PRMF, PROO, PRJF, PRRPM, PRS, PRSS. MF again just causes problems and I’m sure some websites might have to be redesigned as well.
3. Seriously, Mega Force would be so much better for Gokaiger. Okay, Mega Force is generic. Just accept that as truth. Generic is perfect for Gokaiger. You want to get the feeling that this is every season. Mega Force is every season. Mega Force could belong to any season. Mega Force belongs to every season. Additionally, Gokaiger is a MEGA Force. They’re able to use the force of every ranger that came before them. They are the MEGA FORCE. It just makes more sense.

Those are my thoughts on Mega Force. My opinions on the show? Saban’s modus operandi appears to be translating the Sentai and porting it over here poorly. I wasn’t a fan of Goseiger. That’s all I’ve got to say.

Last night I was thinking to myself how can it take like 1/2 days after it airing in Japan Gokaiger can have the subbed and raw versions up but how the hell after a week can the 199 film not be subbed yet? It has been a week and it still hasn’t been put up and in my impatience I come online and see it’s up and now I’m happy and this time I get to know what awesomness Marvelous is saying this time… 

How:

1. This movie is 4 times longer than an episode
2. They still had to do their regular weekly Gokaiger, Fourze, and GARO releases
3. The movie had to go to a “Goseiger advisor” because it was unfamiliar subbing territory to over-time.
4. There was a lot of talking!
